There are a few key things to do when starting to use edibles:

  1. Start small and work your way up

  2. Give it time to take effect

  3. For the first time, make sure you don't have to be anywhere

It's important to start small and work your way up to best determine what the right dosage is for you.

Typically, a good starting point is around 5-10mg of THC. This should not be taken on an empty stomach either, or with alcohol as it can drastically increase the effects to where it could be overwhelming.

Giving the edibles time to kick in is important, it can take up to 45 minutes for a person to feel effects of an edible and these effects will gradually increase over the following hours. Unlike smoking cannabis, edibles take longer to take effect and the effects themselves last longer. Smoking you will usually feel the high within a few seconds/minutes, and typically they dissipate within 30 minutes - 1 hour; whereas the effects of an edible can last up to 4 hours.

Making sure you have time to assess how you feel an not have any plans, work, or places to be ensures that you will feel safe during your edibles experience. Once you are more familiar with how you personally react to consuming edibles, you can have a gummy and enjoy your time out on the town!
